Mon, 23 November 2009 I have begun a new hobby... or is it an art? I have begun delving into the wild world of cooking. Might this lead to a podcast on the topic? Who knows. Meanwhile, stay tuned for some video of my first attempt at a full-on meal. It's never too late to try something new. What was my first foray into foodland? Well, I started with something simple. Something I've made parts of before. Something meat and potato-y. I made beef strips over couscous, with sides of mashed potatoes w/ gravy and corn. Also, I threw in some garlic bread twists. Yes, I know, I like my starches, and the bread may have been a touch out of place, but I wanted to give it a shot. Maybe I'll chronicle this stuff in re-tooled Attic Enigmatic podcast... Yeah, that sounds like a good idea... Category: blog -- posted at: 1:09 PM Comments[0] |

Fri, 30 October 2009 In an effort to make The Attic of Babel even more a one-stop place for all my podcast and blog content, I will be doing two things: 1. Moving (a bit at a time) all The Comic Book Attic blog and podcast content here. This doesn't mean that the CBA page will go away, nor does it mean that the content will be deleted from the CBA page; I'm just going to back-up that content here. (Even if I wanted to combine the pages, there's soooo much content on the CBA site, it's going to take years to catch up with the present.) 2. Move the little content there is on the Fulton County Library podcast page over here as well, and then clone-post the new content here from now on. This podcast and blog content will probably not interest more than a local audience, but it's a podcast I do; therefore, it is included. Category: blog -- posted at: 12:31 PM Comments[0] |
Thu, 29 October 2009 I can't believe people still need to be educated about this. I was in the video store the other month, and I overheard a guy talking about how much he hated widescreen. By the guy's words, I could tell he really didn't know what it was. He thought widescreen was stretched with the top and bottom of the picture missing. He was obviously one of those obnoxious people who cares not a bit about art anyway, so explaining things to him would have likely been a lost cause. But let me just declare it here, because it can't be said enough for all the people out there who prefer full screen versions of movies made in widescreen (which is most movies from the last 50 years): Widescreen is the WHOLE picture, as the director intended. Full screen is missing half of the picture; fake camera pans are inserted; it's awful. Widescreen is the real deal. If those black bars on the top and bottom of your screen bother you, I encourage you to get over it. Here are two videos that demonstrate what I'm saying. There has been trouble uploading files today, and I have 2 new Cinematic Attic podcasts ready for posting. Furthermore, I have found myself unable to download the past 4 episodes all of a sudden. So, hopefully, this'll be cleared up soon. Category: cinematic blog -- posted at: 2:14 PM Comments[0] |

Sun, 14 June 2009 ORIGINALLY POSTED ON THE CINEMATIC ATTIC BLOG, MARCH 16, 2008. Hi, folks. It looks like the usual frequency of this podcast will be monthly, so I will try to make the shows longer or split a longer show into two shorter ones. Episode 2 will be out by the end of March. Now that my internet service has returned, I also plan to have The CA on iTunes by the end of the month. Meantime, give my favorite movie podcast a try: Mondo Movie. You can also try Movie Noise (and Cinerama) and Cinemaslave. Category: cinematic blog -- posted at: 12:59 PM Comments[0] |

Sun, 14 June 2009 ORIGINALLY POSTED ON THE CINEMATIC ATTIC BLOG, JANUARY 23, 2008. H'lo. To those of you who listen to my main podcast, The Comic Book Attic, thanks for trying this one too. To everyone else, nice to meet you. Category: cinematic blog -- posted at: 12:37 PM Comments[1] |
Fri, 12 June 2009 I have had to rethink and restructure the podcasts I do in terms of cost and time. As of this writing, I have five libsyn accounts (including this one), and only one of them takes decent advantage of its account space. As libsyn prices go up and available time to record podcasts fluxuates, I've had to consider an alternative to the five account situation. The Attic of Babel was created to function as a place for many different podcasts that you could subscribe to separately through the splitfeed category option. This originally did not include podcasts that already had their own account pages. This will no longer be the case. With the exception of The Comic Book Attic (which will stay as it is, where it is), all other podcasts by me will be housed here at The Attic of Babel account site. Over the next couple months, I will be moving all content (episodes, blog entries, etc.) of The Cinematic Attic, The Attic Enigmatic, and The Stereoplanetary Attic here. They will reappear in the chronological order of their original posting date. Their original posting date will be noted, as well as all comments that were left on the original blogpages. When all content has been transferred from those three sites, the original blogpages and feeds will be deleted. When all is said and done, there will only be two libsyn account sites for Attic podcasts: The Comic Book Attic and this one. I apologize for any inconvenience. With luck, this will streamline and centralize my podcasts while saving me a bit of money in the process. Mike Pindell Category: blog -- posted at: 11:55 PM Comments[0] |

Fri, 24 April 2009 Welcome to a new podcast project by the lunatic responsible for The Comic Book Attic, The Cinematic Attic, The Stereoplanetary Attic, and The Attic Enigmatic. This page will host any and all podcasts that do not fit under the auspices of one of the above podcast pages. You gotta love those VHS covers of the '80s. This is a recent find at a flea market, although I already own the film in a DVD multi-pack. Had to have this cover! The movie's on-screen title is Legacy of Blood.
